Following a three-event absence from Britain’s top racing series, the 1199 Ducati Panigale will return to the British Superbike Championship grid for the 2014 season finale, as Jakub ‘Kuba’ Smrz is back to ride for the newly-formed Lloyds British Moto Rapido Ducati team ahead of a full campaign for the squad in 2015.
Smrz was side-lined from recent races following a wrist injury sustained at Cadwell Park, but is fighting fit and ready to contest the triple-header of BSB showdowns this weekend (17-19 October).
The Czech rider put in a sensational qualifying performance earlier in the year at Brands Hatch, putting the Panigale fourth on the grid and going on to secure a strong top-ten finish. Having secured the first front row and pole position aboard the Italian machine already in 2014, the advancement of both bike and rider has been impressive, and with backing from Lloyds British a first podium is surely not far away.
The team will be led by Steve Moore who has overseen the technical progression of the BSB Panigale to this point.
While the final details of the 2015 riders have yet to be confirmed, an announcement is expected in the coming weeks before a programme of testing begins.
